Anchorage police say they arrested a 54-year-old man suspected of causing flooding that damaged numerous items at Loussac Library over the weekend.
Police arrested Willie Roundtree on Monday evening, according to Anchorage Police Department spokesman MJ Thim.
Roundtree was located after officers recognized him while responding to a report of a trespasser in the area of 36th Avenue and Springer Street, police said. He was brought in for questioning and arrested on a charge of felony criminal mischief.
A library spokeswoman said that staff there were still trying to establish the extent of the damage, which occurred in a storage area in the Alaska wing. The library is working with city attorneys and its insurance company “to determine next steps and damages,” spokeswoman Misty Rose Nesvick said Tuesday.
Roundtree, who was lodged at Anchorage jail, was scheduled for arraignment Tuesday afternoon.
